VIDA Extends Partnership with Nigeria's Rural Electrification Agency

From Data to Electricity

Nigeria has set itself an ambitious goal, universal electricity access by 2030. Getting there depends less on generators and cables than on knowing exactly where to build them first. That is the problem VIDA's platform was built to solve, and it is why Nigeria's Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has just extended and expanded its collaboration with the company.

A Platform Behind the Numbers

VIDA's data and analytics platform supports REA's electrification planning under the World Bank financed DARES Programme, helping identify where new energy connections deliver the most impact. The results speak for themselves. The platform has contributed to bringing electricity to 4.5 million people, supported public savings of more than 100 million USD through improved subsidy targeting, and is used by around 200 private companies for market intelligence on new energy opportunities.

A Model for the Continent

REA's approach, powered by VIDA's platform, is increasingly referenced by other governments across Africa pursuing similar electrification goals. What started as a single country partnership is turning into a blueprint others are studying and adapting.
